Personal Profile

Zhang Jiaming, Deputy Researcher at Southern Medical University’s Shenzhen Hospital, serves as a Master’s supervisor for academic-track postgraduate students. He is a recipient of the “Pearl River Talent Program” in Guangdong Province and the “High-Level Talent Introduction Program” of Shenzhen. He also holds the position of Guest Professor at Anhui Medical University. Dr. Zhang has studied and conducted research at Huazhong University of Science and Technology Tongji Medical College (Orthopedics) and the University of Tokyo, and has collaborated with internationally renowned scientist Prof. Roland Baron (H-index: 120, citations > 81,450) for over 10 years. He has published more than 108 SCI-indexed papers as the first or corresponding author, including in Ageing Research Reviews (Impact Factor 12.5, ESI Highly Cited Paper, Top 1% in Clinical Medicine). He serves as an editorial board member for Burns & Trauma, Asian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Frontiers in Translational Internal Medicine. His research achievements have been selected as conference highlights at the Orthopaedic Research Society (ORS) and American Society for Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR) Annual Meetings.

Research Field

Dr. Zhang focuses on musculoskeletal degenerative diseases (including osteoarthritis and intervertebral disc degeneration) and their association with aging-related changes in the systemic environment. He has revealed the role of the bone–cartilage interface and subchondral bone remodeling in joint degeneration, and explored nanomaterial-based and photothermal synergistic strategies for treating degenerative diseases. His research interests also include the interplay between the motor system and internal organs, and the impact of immune microenvironments on musculoskeletal diseases.
